Children

Barahona, Dominican Republic – behind the Mission House we are building a school. Right now 2 rooms are finished and we hold a Children's Education Program there on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00. The children are memorizing the Word of God, learning proper hygiene and proper manners. They take field trips to the beach, have parties at Valentine's Day, honor their mother's on Mother's Day with a special presentation and hold birthday parties twice a year for the children enrolled.

Batey Altagracia, Dominican Republic – at our own church in this Haitian Village, we have 90 children enrolled in the Education Program. This program is a duplicate of the one in Barahona with the exception that it's predominantly Haitian children. Several refugees from the Haiti Earthquake are living in this village as well.

Several churches in the States have held shoe drives where families go into their schools and ask for gently used shoes. Once collected, they are sorted, boxed up and shipped to us here in the Dominican Republic. Shoes and underwear are the two things the poor go without.
