Meet Kathryn Mae Foust

Administrative Assistant of Missions

I was born in North Canton, Ohio to Jim and Susan Foust.  I have one brother and one sister. I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home, where my parents were active in our present home church. This instilled strong moral character in my life. I attended a private Christian School which is where my interest in missions and helping the poor was originally sparked.

In 2003 I went on my first out of country missions trip to Barahona, Dominican Republic with my youth group. On that trip, our team worked with Pastor Fleming, a Dominican pastor, who is still my pastor here in Barahona to this day. Also on that trip I met the Rumples for the first time. Mary and Keila came to help translate for our group and that's when I became familiar with Grace and Peace. After that trip, I returned to Barahona to work with Grace and Peace in 2004 and interned the summer of 2005, after I graduated from high school.

I started college at Malone University, where I earned a double major in Communications and Spanish. During my time at Malone I travelled to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and them returned to Costa Rica in 2009 for a semester abroad. I began to develop a real passion to help the Latino Culture After College, I worked in Chicago at San Jose Obrero Mission.  Following my tenure there,  I worked at Catholic Charities in the Homelessness Prevention Department.

Through my time working in Chicago, I was able to further understand the calling God had placed over my life. Although I had not traveled to Barahona between 2005-2012, I knew that God was allowing me to mature spiritually and preparing me for my time serving here in Barahona as an adult. God placed a desire and passion in my heart for Barahona my first trip here in 2003, and over the past 11 years that passion has never died. It has not only been my passion, but became my calling. It is amazing to see how God truly does know the desires of our hearts, as my desire has now become my reality.

I work as Administrative Assistant to Karen, helping her coordinate the different ministries we have as well as hosting of short term missions teams.
