Widow Program
The Widow Program began in June of 2000 starting with 13 widows from a Haitian village and today provides food, medicine, clothing and housing to 100+ Dominican/Haitian widows in 12 different communities in and around Barahona.

Widow Sponsorship
Once we receive your first donation, we initiate the process of onboarding a widow in need. Within two months, we'll send you a photo and a short biography introducing the widow whose life you are helping to transform.
When a widow is adopted and supported on a monthly basis, she comes to rely on the stability and care provided through the program. If she faces any chronic medical needs, we make it a priority to arrange specialist visits to ensure she's on the best possible treatment plan and receiving her medication regularly. We also provide her with enough rice, beans, chicken bouillon, and cooking oil to last throughout the month. Whenever we have the resources or receive clothing donations, we do our best to ensure each widow gets what she needs.
We also connect your adopted widow with a local support system, such as a Bible study group or church, depending on her current involvement.

About the Widow Program
Through generous donations over the years, Grace and Peace has built more than 100 homes for those widows in need. The widows attend a local Bible Study in their community once a week and with your sponsorship, Grace and Peace provides them with food and medicine for each day.
When special donations are made we are able to do the following:
Install a cement floor if she needs one.
Install a patio around her house.
Attach her bathroom to her home when a special donation is made in the amount of $750
Buy her a wringer/washers, cooktop stove, propane tank for the stove, bed, water tank and chairs.
Each new widow with high blood pressure or diabetes is taken to a specialist for an assessment.
